Core Creative Wins National Clarion Award
July 17, 2008
Core Creative has received its second national Clarion award in three years in honor of its work for Verizon Wireless and the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes campaign. The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) gives its Clarion Awards in recognition of excellence in clear, concise communications for national entrants from a variety of communications disciplines.
As one of more than 500 entries, Core Creative's work on Walk a Mile in Her Shoes presented by Verizon Wireless was recognized with the 2008 Clarion Award in the Public Relations - Community Service Category. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a march against domestic violence that seeks to bolster the Greater Milwaukee area in recognizing the all-too common issue.
In the weeks prior to the walk, Core Creative developed a series of press kits, news releases and scripts to generate awareness between the media and the public about how to take part in the walk and bring an end to domestic violence. The walk boasted a high attendance of more than 700 walkers with many of the men sporting high heels in support of the walk's mission.
"Creating standout campaigns for our clients is part of our mission at Core Creative," said Beth Crivello-Wagner, director of public relations at Core Creative. "This national recognition, along with the attention the issue received locally, shows how a unique idea and effective implementation can encourage the media and public to focus on important issues that need to be addressed."
This is the second national Clarion award Core Creative has won in the past three years. In 2006, Core Creative received an award in the Press Kit category for its work done for the 9th Annual United States Australian Football League National Championships, which were taking place in Milwaukee.
"We take great pride in recognizing the outstanding agencies and organizations that generate exceptional work in the Greater Milwaukee area," said Jennifer Doolin, co-president of the Association for Women in Communications Milwaukee. "Core Creative's work for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes exemplified the type of work that generates change and represents the difference women in the field of communications can make."
