Use video to tell your story

By Ward Alles on February 27, 2013

I grew up watching Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch after school. Now it’s 30Rock and American Pickers after work. I guess watching a little TV is a way of relaxing for me.

But it’s more than that. Video is my medium of choice. It’s got it all. Action. Sound. Music. Storytelling. Emotion. And get this. I don’t have to do anything. I just watch and soak it all in. No work. Just engagement, information and, hopefully, a little entertainment.

Bet you like video for the same reasons.

[pullquote align=”right”] … how can we share the steps of our say it. live it.™ branding process – and express the benefits of brand alignment? [/pullquote]

We find ourselves using video to tell our clients’ stories more and more. Video is a tremendous way to connect audiences to an organization’s brand. For a branding agency, it just made sense to do it ourselves – to add some “TV” to our website and share our own story.

So we asked ourselves, “How can we explain what we do in video form?”

In particular, how can we share the steps of our say it. live it.™ branding process – and express the benefits of brand alignment? Goes without saying: Showing brand consultants at focus groups or writing on whiteboards isn’t anyone’s idea of must-see TV. We needed something worthy of the medium. Something visually arresting. Something you’d want to watch over and over. Maybe even forward to business associates.

Enter the Core team to solve the problem. Account Executive Sarah Fracek and I worked out the ideas of what we wanted to express and Jerry Higgins, our creative director, got to work with Doug Birling, a senior designer at Core, to bring it to life.

Jerry illustrated and shot more than 1,400 still frames to bring the script to life. Doug produced a rough cut video and worked with Charles Collins, our digital services director, to record the voiceover (what pipes!) and develop the final video that you now see here.

So … what happens when we introduce our clients to say it. live it.?

Take a minute and watch some TV to find out. And then, of course, tell us what you think. I hope you like it more than reruns of Gilligan’s Island.
