Sara Scharlau named vice president of design services business unit.
Core is excited to announce Sara Scharlau has been promoted to serve as vice president of design services for Core Design – a dedicated business unit employing more than 40 designers and project leaders to serve Milwaukee Tool.
Previously acting as a creative director, Scharlau will now assist the agency’s senior executive partners in growing and managing Core Design.
“For more than 12 years, Sara has taken a creative lead within our business,” said Ward Alles, chief executive officer. “Sara is completely invested in Milwaukee Tool’s success and makes sure everyone within our teams upholds their high brand standards. At the same time, she represents Core’s interests extremely well, helping us attract the right talent, structure our teams, and establish workflow processes that create efficiencies.”
To ensure Core Design remains an effective, efficient creative resource for Milwaukee Tool, Scharlau remains directly supported by the agency partners, as well as Core Creative’s chief financial officer.

Since 2007, Core Design has helped Milwaukee Tool share their disruptive innovations with professional contractors working on job sites around the world. As vice president, Scharlau will lead project managers and designers responsible for creating packaging, 3D renderings, in-store and event marketing collateral, e-commerce solutions, and internal communication materials. Scharlau’s experience and leadership will be instrumental in fostering Core Design’s successful operation and continued growth.
